Dental tips for adults

If you experience pain or sore muscles in the jaw joint area (in front of your ears) or even headaches, you may be grinding or clenching your teeth in your sleep. Speak to your dentist about being fitted for a night guard, which will protect your teeth and the joint area.

Halloween Tips! 

It's Halloween this week and it's time to think of some healthier treat options. Here are some ideas:

  • Rice Cake
  • Snack Bags
  • Cheese Strings
  • Sugarless Gum
  • Whole Wheat Pretzel
  • Potato Chips
  • Carrot Sticks
  • Dark Chocolate (less sugar)

General Oral Health

Poor oral health doesn't just cause problems inside the mouth. A smile is hugely important to our personalities, self-confidence, relationships and success. General health is also at risk too as studies continue to associate poor oral health to serious health problems such as diabetes, heart disease, strokes, pneumonia, premature babies and other major conditions.

Children’s oral health

  • Over three in every ten children starting school (31 per cent) have tooth decay
  • A third of children aged 12 have visible dental decay

Dental Phobia

  • 15 per cent of adults who have been to a dentist suffer from extreme dental anxiety.
  • Visiting the dentist is ranked number one (22%) for making people nervous, closely followed by heights (19%). Nearly 10 times as many people (22%) are nervous of visiting their dentists, compared to their doctor (2%).

Children and Brushing 101

Even with all the fluoride and teeth cleaning agents available, many children still have cavities and other tooth problems. It is important to have your children’s teeth checked and cleaned on a regular basis. We recommend every 6 months. Even with regular visits some children can still have problems with their teeth. There are many new methods to ease dental treatments for children. Preventative orthodontic treatments to eliminate crowded teeth. We would be happy to discuss this with you.
