If you've had the misfortune of losing a tooth or have recently been told that you may have to lose a tooth or multiple teeth, there are now amazing options for replacement.

The new standard of technology for tooth replacement is a dental implant. Essentially, this is small titanium screw placed beneath the gums and is used to support a prosthetic tooth/teeth.

Traditionally, the number of procedures and timeline was lengthy which deterred patients from care. A patient needed to wait 4-6 months from the time of tooth removal before implantation to allow bone to heal, and then wait an additional 4-6 months for the implant to heal before finally getting a tooth. Although this may still be the case in certain instances, new technology and modifications have made same day replacement solutions an option in most situations.

What makes these treatments so incredible is that a patient can literally go from having no tooth/teeth to a new tooth in the same day. Not only does this avoid multiple trips to the dentist and numerous surgeries....but it also means you don't go without a tooth for even an instant.

That said - there is absolutely a buyer beware when it comes to these approaches. First and foremost one should make sure they are being treated by an experienced specialist in the field whose training involves rendering of such treatment on a routine basis. Finally, not every situation is amenable to same day care and this is all the more reason to consider a consultation with your dentist and surgeon before considering treatment options that are right for you.
